I’m Kamilah — mom, founder, dreamer, consultant, artist, recovering nonprofit executive, and someone who believes we all deserve to work and live in ways that feel like us.
For over 20 years, I worked inside big nonprofits — leading programs, managing teams across continents, chasing impact while also battling the realities of working in our sector. When I finally stepped out to build my own consulting business, I thought freedom would feel easier. Instead, I found myself in rooms where I was the only woman of color, where formulas didn’t fit, and where success felt like it meant leaving my values behind.
So I decided to build differently.
Here’s what you should know about me:
I don’t pretend to have all the answers — I learn things, experiment, pivot, and am figuring it out in real time, just like you.
I value connection over competition.
Nothing lights me up more than introducing brilliant women to each other & seeing folks who found each other through Katalyst go on to do great things together.
I believe our values aren’t obstacles in business — they’re our biggest advantage.
I’m direct, curious, fun, a little stubborn, and deeply committed to creating spaces where women of color can exhale and just be themselves.
Katalyst came out of that. But at its core, my work isn’t about programs or strategies — it’s about people, relationships, and building businesses that don’t force us to compromise who we are.
When you're with me & fellow Katalystas inside Katalyst, you’ll see the polished professional and the messy humans. Both are us. Both are part of what makes this community real.
